Alzheimer's Disease is the leading cause of dementia in adults over the age of 60 in the US. With no cure, early diagnosis is critical for effective patient care. Current diagnostic processes take a minimum of 3 years from patient intake to patient diagnosis, wasting critical time for providing treatment.


My senior year, I got the opportunity to work with a team of students, professors, and industry professionals to design and develop a web application to address this very real world need. Our goal was to create end to end tool, with a functional frontend and backend system, that would collect patient symptoms and provide an accurate diagnosis efficiently. 


My role in this was to design the UI/UX in a way that inspired confidence in the tool and reduced barrier to adoption in the medical system. Over the course of one year I conducted user research and user studies to identify current medical practices and tools. I reached out to a variety of medical professionals ranging from doctors at the UC Davis Alzheimer's Disease Center to ML experts working in Cortechs.ai. I put together a multi page form for input collection that minimized error and tedium and diagnosis visualization accessible to both medical professionals and patients
